So, I've got some good news for anyone who uses Session. Specifically for those of you who put your Session IDs into your blog description.
I'm sure most of you have come across a blog on your phones and found a Session ID running off the page like it was trying to escape. You also may have noticed that these runaway Session IDs add a significant amount of horizontal scrolling that is normally not supposed to be there. Below I've included an example I setup on a dummy account.
Now, when you add broken page dimensions together with a content loading system that relies on your "position" to trigger additional content (as you get to the bottom of the page), you get...
✨No more content!✨
That's right, adding your Session ID to your blog description makes it so that anyone using the mobile site can only see the first handful of your posts. The rest of your blog's content will be unable to load.
This has been true for all of the dozens of blogs I've tested. Anyone who gets different results is welcome to let me know.
So, thanks to BDSMLR's absolutely wonderful development team, this has been a problem ever since people started advertising their Sessions (and it occasionally happens when you post long URLs too).
Also, because of this legendary development team's stellar track record when it comes to... well, everything they're responsible for, we can expect this (and every other) issue to outlive us all! 😁
However, if you want to stop your Session ID from shining a spotlight on some glaring design flaws, you can fix it by adding a little basic HTML to the description field in your settings.
I put together a simple template for anyone who wants it, which also includes the secret to adding multiple paragraphs.
<span style="word-wrap: break-word;">
DESCRIPTION GOES HERE.
<br /><br />
This will come out as a separate paragraph (as if you pressed Enter twice).
<br /><br />
Session ID:
<br />
SESSION ID GOES HERE.
</span>
Anyone who wants to use this in their blog description just has to copy everything in the above code box (or whichever pieces you want specifically), then fill in your own description content.
Just make sure you leave the <span...></span> tags alone! Then you put whatever you want in between them.
So I hope that helps anyone who needs it, and please reblog so this solution can reach as many people as possible.
Thanks for reading! You may now return to your regularly scheduled debauchery and porn addictions.
